The furthest back that I have been able to trace the Millar family is to James Millar born around 1770. I have his marriage to Elizabeth (Bessie) Moir on 10th July 1796. Records in Scotland before that did not hold much information and I am unable to be sure who his parents were.

My Great Great Great Grandparents
James married Elizabeth Moir (known as Bessie) on 10th July 1796 at St Nicholas, Aberdeen, Scotland. Elizabeth was the daughter of Robert Moir and his wife Elizabeth, nee Anderson, who married on 27th February 1783 at St Nicholas. Elizabeth had a sister Helen.
I have only been able to definitely trace two children of James & Elizabeth who are:
James Miller baptised on 3rd April 1804
George Millar born in 1801 in Aberdeen. George married Rachel Susanna Jamieson – daughter of Daniel Jamieson and Rachel Jamieson, nee Strachan

My Great Great Grandparents
George married Rachel on 22 January 1825. Rachel was aged 19, being born in 1806 in Aberdeen. It was Rachel’s brother, John Strachan, who became the first Bishop of Toronto and founded the school that later became Toronto University,
George and Rachel had three children
James Strachan Millar born in 1827 and baptised on 9th January 1827, who married Esther Barrazzoni
Alexander Gibbon Thomson Millar baptised on 18 June 1825 in St Nicholas, Aberdeen

My Great Grandparents
James Strachan Millar was born in 1827 to George and Rachel Millar. Baptised on 9th January 1827 & he married Esther Barrazoni on 14th January 1859 at the age of 32. James was a pawnbroker.
They had nine children of whom my Grandfather was the youngest.
